“Actors are agents of change. A film, a piece of theatre, a piece of music, or a book can make a difference!”
As part of Enriching Education, a street play was performed at St. John’s School by a theatre group on 05/12/2023.
It was meant to bring awareness to students about the overdependence and misuse of technology.
The group performed on the theme “Door desh se aayega koi”, which was based on an alien’s visit to our Mother Earth. The play started with a sight of people dancing to their own tunes and having a good time.
Then an alien enters the scene and inquires about them, their land and their achievements.
As those people were occupied in their technological cocoon, the alien kept to himself and observed them. The play proceeded with scenes depicting ways of excelling in technology, all sorts of technological trends, overuse and misuse of social media, etc. Through a poem, actors showcased the importance of human touch, which is fading in the prevailing scenario, owing to the dependence on technology. As people get a reality check about their present and future in terms of nature and life, the alien who had been watching it all, joins them and helps them in realizing their mistakes and guides them on ways of rectification. The play was intertwined with some piteous and ironic moments infused with entertainment. The group succeeded in sending the message across as the students applauded their performance.
