The 162nd birth anniversary of Gurudev- Rabindra Nath Tagore was celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervour in St John’s premises. The students of class IX paid a tribute to Nobel Laureate and legend through a vibrant and informative special assembly. The programme included impressive speech, melodious song, colourful dance performance and a short skit, depicting the larger than life character of the Renaissance Man of India.
To honour the memory of the pioneer, who became Asia’s first Nobel laureate in 1913, our students spoke on the life of Gurudev with information about his contributions to the fields of art, education, music and literature. Student also presented a soulful rendition of Gurudev’s classic, “Ekla chalo re”.
The assembly concluded with the thought that Rabindranath can be compared with Rabindranath himself. Being the greatest figure in the modern India Renaissance, we will always look upon him as the source of beauty, wisdom ,knowledge and inspiration of all noble thought and great ideas.
