On 18th January 2025 (Saturday), St. John’s School organized a career counseling workshop for students of Classes X and XII, along with their parents, to help them make informed decisions about their future careers. The session was conducted by Professor Amala Siby from Christ University, a distinguished expert in career guidance and counseling.
The workshop began with an introduction by Professor Siby, who emphasized the importance of understanding one’s strengths, interests, and aspirations when choosing a career path. She highlighted the significance of early planning and aligning career choices with personal values and long-term goals.
Professor Siby provided valuable insights into a wide range of career options, including traditional fields like engineering, medicine, and law, as well as emerging sectors such as digital marketing, data science, and environmental sciences. She discussed the skills required for these careers, the educational pathways to pursue them, and their future prospects.
A key focus of the session was on the importance of making informed choices. Professor Siby encouraged students to thoroughly research their options, consider their passions, and seek guidance from mentors and professionals in their chosen fields. She stressed the importance of self-awareness and critical thinking in making decisions that will have a lasting impact on their lives.
The interactive nature of the session allowed students and parents to ask questions and clarify their doubts. Professor Siby addressed concerns about job stability, financial security, and the rapidly evolving job market. She also offered guidance on selecting the right subjects in higher secondary education based on individual career interests.
The workshop concluded with a motivational note from Professor Siby, urging students to remain curious, adaptable, and resilient when facing challenges. She reminded them that career planning is an ongoing process and that it is never too early to start.
The session was highly appreciated by both students and parents, who found Professor Siby’s insights and practical advice immensely helpful in navigating the complexities of career choices. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Saba Zaidi. The Principal Ms. Reeja Ninan also interacted with parents and students, addressing their feedback and reinforcing the importance of such initiatives.
