“Self-defense is not just a set of techniques, it's a state of mind that begins with the belief that you are worth defending”
On 12th September 2024, St. John’s School organized a self-defense workshop for its teaching staff, inviting experts from The Kavach Self Defense Training System. "KAVACH" is one of India's most trusted organizations for realistic street-fight self-defense training, teaching men, women, and children techniques to protect themselves in unexpected situations. This initiative by St. John’s aimed to equip its teachers with practical self-defense skills.
The workshop began with a warm welcome to the Kavach team, followed by active participation from all teaching and non-teaching staff. Everyone had the opportunity to practice essential self-defense techniques, breaking the stereotype that only those with a strong physique can defend themselves. The Kavach team empowered participants by demonstrating that, with the right techniques, anyone can protect themselves, regardless of their physical strength.
This thoughtful effort by St. John’s reflects the school's commitment to the well-being of its staff. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Saba Zaidi, and a few words of appreciation from the Principal, Ms. Reeja Ninan. It was a highly empowering and valuable learning experience for everyone involved.
