A professional development workshop titled “Demystifying the Art of Teaching by Mastering Soft Skills for 21st Century Classrooms” was organized on 17th January 2026 at St. John’s School, Greater Noida West. The workshop was conducted by the renowned academician and resource person, Prof. Santosh Koshy Joy, with the aim of strengthening teachers’ professional effectiveness through the purposeful integration of soft skills in contemporary classrooms.

The session highlighted that effective teaching in the 21st century extends beyond subject expertise and requires emotional intelligence, effective communication, self-awareness, adaptability, and ethical responsibility. Teaching was presented as a harmonious blend of art and science, where pedagogical knowledge is enriched through empathy, creativity, classroom interaction, and professional demeanor.

The workshop emphasized the importance of collaboration, perceptive communication, and holistic teacher development. Equal significance was accorded to hard skills and soft skills, with a focus on how interpersonal competence and adaptability play a decisive role in professional growth. Participants were encouraged to engage in self-reflection, cultivate positive mindsets, practice self-care, and accept individual differences to enhance classroom effectiveness.

The session also offered insights into the mindful use of social media and emerging technologies, introduced the relevance of psychometric understanding for better self-management, and highlighted the value of micro-credentials for continuous professional upskilling. The workshop provided valuable perspectives on the evolving role of educators and reinforced the central role of soft skills in enhancing teaching–learning practices in modern classrooms.
