India faces a grave challenge in ensuring road safety, and instilling awareness at a young age is a crucial step toward saving lives. With this vision, St. John’s School proudly participated in the National Road Safety Mission for Schools (NRSM), an initiative of the International Road Federation in collaboration with the Ministry of Education. As part of this mission, a comprehensive workshop was organized on 15 January 2026 to sensitize students about the importance of road safety and responsible conduct on roads.
The workshop emphasized that road safety is not merely about traffic rules or signals, but about awareness, responsibility, and respect for human life. Students were made to understand that roads are shared spaces, and individual behavior on them can be the defining factor between safety and tragedy. The session aimed to nurture a sense of civic responsibility and disciplined behavior among young learners.
The resource persons for the workshop, Mr. Kapil Dhama, Head Constable, and Mr. Praful Shrivastav, Traffic Inspector, enriched the session by sharing valuable practical guidance and real-life experiences. Their insightful explanations of traffic rules, road signs, and safe practices highlighted how simple precautions, when followed sincerely, can prevent accidents and protect countless lives. They strongly reinforced the idea that while safety begins with awareness, it can only be achieved through conscious and consistent action.
The session was highly interactive and engaging, with enthusiastic participation from the students. Learners actively demonstrated traffic rules, the significance of traffic lights, and correct road behavior through discussions and practical illustrations. This hands-on approach made the learning experience impactful and memorable.
Overall, the workshop proved to be an enlightening and empowering experience. It not only enhanced students’ knowledge of road safety but also motivated them to become responsible and vigilant road users, reaffirming the school’s commitment to shaping conscientious citizens of tomorrow.
