A two-day capacity-building workshop titled “Nurturing Well-Being – A Teacher’s Toolkit” was successfully conducted at St. John’s School, Greater Noida (West) on 30th & 31st December 2025.
The workshop aimed at equipping teachers with practical strategies to support mental health and manage behavioural concerns in the classroom. Led by Dr. Ruchika and Ms. Alta Susan Jacob, the sessions offered insight into identifying emotional distress among students and implementing empathetic responses.
Discussions focused on prominent challenges such as academic stress, bullying, social withdrawal, declining performance, anxiety, trauma-related behaviour, and early signs of substance exposure or self-harm.
Teachers were guided on understanding their intervention roles under three response categories:
Can Deal: routine academic and behavioural concerns within classroom scope.
Can Talk to Family: concerns linked to home environment, peer conflict, or emotional instability.
Can Refer to Counsellor/Head: critical concerns requiring immediate professional intervention.
A special segment on Empathy and Perspective Taking encouraged teachers to view behaviour as communication rather than defiance, emphasising supportive dialogue, timely check-ins, healthy coping channels, and responsible referrals.
The workshop concluded with a reflective activity titled “Flight of Emotions”, where teachers penned their gratitude, learning, and resolutions on paper planes—symbolising renewal, release, and readiness for the new academic year.
At the culmination of the session, Principal Ms. Reeja Ninan appreciated both the resource persons and the attending faculty, acknowledging their dedication to nurturing emotionally secure classrooms. She commended the initiative as a meaningful step towards strengthening the school’s culture of care, sensitivity, and students centred well-being.
The workshop proved to be insightful, meaningful, and professionally enriching, empowering 111 teachers with clarity, preparedness, and compassionate intervention skills. It reaffirmed the belief that emotional well-being is not an add-on, but the foundation of impactful education.
