HOLISTIC PROGRESS CARD WORKSHOP FOR GRADE I & II PARENTS
‘A child’s progress is best measured not only by scores, but by smiles , skills , and strengths.’
St. John’s School, Greater Noida West, successfully conducted the Holistic Progress Card (HPC) Workshop for Class I and II parents on 6 December, 2025(Saturday). The workshop was designed to help parents understand the school’s competency-based assessment system and to strengthen the partnership between home and school in fostering the all-round development of young learners.
The programme began with teachers warmly welcoming parents at the school gate and guiding them through the corridors to the venue. A serene prayer by the school choir set a reflective tone, followed by the dignified lighting of the lamp by Principal Ms. Reeja Ninan, symbolizing knowledge and enlightenment.
Ms. Meena delivered the welcome speech, outlining the purpose of the workshop and emphasizing the importance of parental involvement in early education. She also explained the shift from traditional marks-based evaluation to a holistic and competency-driven framework.
The heart of the session was the Assessment Orientation, facilitated by Ms. Nisha, Ms. Alisha, and Ms. Kamalpreet. Parents were introduced to the key developmental domains of the Holistic Progress Card—Physical Development, Socio-Emotional and Ethical Development, Cognitive Skills, Language and Literacy, Aesthetic and Cultural Growth, and Positive Learning Habits. Each domain was explained with clarity, including examples of classroom activities, indicators of progress, and the role of self and peer assessments.
Teachers also familiarized parents with the scholastic profile, grading scale, periodic assessments, and the balanced roles of teacher feedback, parent remarks, and student reflection. The session reassured families that the system is designed to appreciate every child’s strength while encouraging steady growth across all aspects of learning.
Parents appreciated the clarity of communication, the warmth of the welcome, and the openness with which their questions were answered. The workshop concluded with a gracious Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Khushboo, acknowledging the contributions of teachers, staff members, and parents whose collective involvement made the event a success.
Overall, the HPC Workshop proved to be an insightful and engaging platform that strengthened parent-school collaboration. It not only clarified the structure and purpose of the holistic report card but also reinforced the school’s commitment to nurturing confident, competent, and emotionally balanced young learners.
