The Bhasha Bandhu l Class Activity
“When we wrote our story in different Indian languages, we learned that creativity has no boundaries—only more languages to explore.”
Class – Grade IV
Date – December 9, 2025
To celebrate the beauty of languages and to help young learners appreciate cultural diversity, St John’s school organized The Bhasha Bandhu – Letters and Story Chain in Multiple Languages activity was conducted to celebrate India’s linguistic richness and to encourage students to explore and appreciate the diversity of Indian languages. As part of this activity, students collaboratively wove a creative story using multiple Indian languages, adding their own unique lines to form a multilingual story chain. Each participant contributed in a language of their choice—such as Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, and others—allowing the story to flow seamlessly across scripts, cultures, and regions.
To enhance the experience and create a visually engaging environment, students also displayed placards of the languages they used. This helped them understand basic vocabulary, recognize scripts, and experience the joy of expressing simple thoughts in languages beyond their own.
The activity enabled students to:
>Develop sensitivity towards India’s linguistic diversity
>Build confidence in using new languages
>Engage creatively through collaborative storytelling
>Strengthen cultural awareness and communication skills
Overall, the Bhasha Bandhu activity successfully highlighted the beauty of India’s multilingual heritage and fostered unity through the shared joy of language learning.
