A Legal Awareness Workshop was held at St. John’s School, Greater Noida West, on 7th August 2025, with the objective of educating and inspiring students of grade IX & XI about the significance of law in society and the vast career prospects within the legal field. Under the visionary leadership of Principal Ms. Reeja Ninan, the school continues to open new avenues of knowledge and opportunities for its students.
The guest speaker for the session was Advocate Varnav Somwal, a distinguished legal professional, who shared his profound knowledge and rich experiences with the audience. He highlighted the multifaceted nature of the legal profession, explaining that a career in law extends far beyond courtroom practice. Opportunities abound in corporate law, public service, legal journalism, policy-making, and other spheres where one can contribute meaningfully to society.
A key segment of Mr. Somwal’s address centered on prison reforms and the ethical responsibilities of lawyers. He stressed the importance of prioritizing rehabilitation over mere punishment, encouraging future legal professionals to become agents of change in transforming the justice system. Drawing upon real-life examples, he illustrated the practical challenges and rewards of the profession, making the discussion both engaging and insightful.
The workshop concluded with a lively question-and-answer session, where students eagerly interacted with the guest speaker. Their thoughtful questions reflected a genuine curiosity and enthusiasm, and Mr. Somwal responded with patience, offering valuable advice and perspectives.
Overall, the workshop proved to be both informative and inspiring.
