The Science and Eco Club of St. John’s School, Greater Noida West, organized a series of events from July 16 to 18, 2025, aimed at promoting Dolphin conservation and environmental awareness among students of Classes VI to VIII.
On July 16, 2025, a Dolphin Conservation Mass Awareness Video Screening was conducted in classrooms and common areas of the school. The video focused on the Ganges River Dolphin, highlighting its ecological significance and the urgent need for habitat protection. A total of 781 students participated in the screening. The visual format proved to be an effective educational tool, sparking curiosity and concern among students. Many expressed a strong desire to take action to protect endangered aquatic life. Teachers reported increased student engagement in environmental topics following the screening, indicating a positive impact on their awareness and interest.
The following day, July 17, 2025, a Dolphin Conservation Pledge Ceremony was held, uniting 861 participants in a shared commitment to safeguard aquatic ecosystems and the dolphins that depend on them. The pledge ceremony was a meaningful initiative that reinforced the values of environmental responsibility and community involvement, contributing to a broader culture of conservation within the school.
On July 18, 2025, a Painting Competition on Dolphin Conservation was organized for students of Classes VI to VIII. A total of 81 students participated, with 28 from Class 6, 26 from Class 7, and 27 from Class 8. The event encouraged students to express their understanding of dolphin conservation through creative artwork. Prizes were awarded to the top five entries, which were displayed on the school bulletin board and shared on the school’s social media platforms. Teachers observed high levels of enthusiasm and awareness among participants. Students showcased the significance of clean water, the fragility of dolphin habitats, and the role of human responsibility through their illustrations. The competition also sparked broader interest in wildlife and environmental conservation.
All three events were coordinated under the guidance of teacher incharges Ms. Kamalpreet Kaur and Ms. Namita Nigam, whose efforts greatly contributed to the success and educational value of the initiatives. These programs collectively fostered environmental consciousness and encouraged proactive thinking among young learners.
