From May 6 to 24, 2025, the Book Reading Festival engaged students of classes of IX and XI in a daily reading programme during the Zero Period.
Students were instructed to bring their selected books each morning and to prepare brief reviews according to the provided format. They were reminded to follow the book-review guidelines carefully—summarizing the plot, evaluating themes and style, and reflecting on personal insights. English Teachers kept a close watch on students’ choices to ensure that all reading material was age-appropriate and relevant to the festival’s learning goals.
The library teacher collaborated with class teachers to draw up a roster for daily Zero-Period visits to the library. On each assigned day, small groups rotated through the stacks for guided reading time. During these visits, the librarian enforced library rules—maintaining silence, handling books with care and respecting browsing limits—and recorded the titles in the festival log to verify that every student’s choice met book reading festival guidelines.
All participants were expected to attend the Zero Period reading sessions without fail, bring their chosen books every day, follow the structured review format and read only approved material. This coordinated effort between students, English faculty and the library team ensured a smooth, enriching festival that fostered reading habit formation, critical reflection and responsible stewardship of school resources.
