On Friday, 23 May 2025, students of Classes VI to VIII attended a workshop on sugar consumption led by Dr Pankaj Relan, MD(Internal Medicine) of Sarvodaya Hospital. The event opened with Principal Ms Reeja Ninan felicitating Dr Relan with a gift and young sapling—symbols of growth and health—before welcoming everyone. Dr Relan outlined excessive sugar’s effects: obesity, tooth decay, hyperactivity, mood swings, and raised diabetes risk. He taught students to read food labels—aiming for under 5 g sugar per 100 g—and recommended healthy swaps such as jaggery treats, fresh fruits, and nuts, plus water or milk over sugary drinks. Parents were urged to promote nutritious home-cooked meals.
