On 2 May 2025, Class X B of St. John’s School had the privilege of organizing a vibrant assembly in honour of Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti. The programme celebrated Gurudev’s timeless teachings and underscored their enduring relevance in modern education.
The assembly began with a soulful invocation, invoking blessings of wisdom, unity, and inspiration. A student then shared the Thought of the Day, which resonated deeply with everyone present. To enrich our vocabulary and bolster our confidence in public speaking, another student introduced the Word of the Day, demonstrating its usage with clarity and flair.
Next came a concise news bulletin, which brought us up to date on significant national and international developments, sports highlights, and the day’s weather forecast. The hall then fell silent as voices rose in unison to the stirring strains of “Ekla Chalo Re,” a heartfelt rendition of one of Tagore’s most beloved songs.
A thought-provoking skit followed, dramatizing Tagore’s philosophy of holistic education—preparing students not merely for examinations and careers but for life itself—and evoking the spirit of Shantiniketan. This was succeeded by a vibrant dance performance that filled the assembly with joy and exuberant energy.
To conclude, the assembly rose as one for the National Anthem, its notes stirring pride and patriotism in every heart. In celebrating Rabindranath Tagore’s legacy, Class X B reminded us all to strive for excellence, compassion, and creativity in every aspect of life.
