St. John's School, Greater Noida West, organized a Health Awareness Session for the parents of Nursery and LKG students on 26th April 2025( Saturday). The session was conducted by Dr. Nisha Jain, Senior Dietician and Diabetic Educator at Sarvodaya Hospital.
Dr. Jain led a very fruitful and engaging session, emphasizing the importance of a balanced diet for young children and how it plays a crucial role in their proper growth and development. She explained that good nutrition not only boosts mood, health, and longevity but also helps in preventing chronic diseases.
The session included detailed insights into the Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA) for essential nutrients and how parents can inculcate healthy eating habits in their children. Dr. Jain stressed the importance of creative food presentation to attract children’s interest in meals and encouraged involving kids in food preparation activities.
She also highlighted the harmful effects of junk food on children's health and shared practical tips on replacing junk food with healthy alternatives. The importance of breakfast as "fuel for the mind and body" was emphasized, along with suggestions for making school lunches both healthy and interesting.
Dr. Jain further advised minimizing screen time during meals and underscored the significance of outdoor play for children’s overall well-being.
The session concluded with the felicitation of Dr. Nisha Jain by Ms. Rashmita Sarker, NTT Coordinator. Overall, it was a highly informative and valuable session for all the parents, focusing on raising healthier and happier children.
