St. John’s School, Greater Noida West, in collaboration with ANON Global Foundation, organized two engaging sessions as part of their Multiple Sessions on Life Skills and Mental Health on 14 May2024. First session was on the topic Communication skills for the students of classes VI to VIII by Dr. Arti Girdhar (founder & President), Ms. Shammi Proothi (Vice President) and Garv Puri ANON volunteer. Through a series of anecdotes and interactive activities, they emphasized the importance of effective communication, including the art of saying "No" and accepting "No." The workshop created a welcoming environment for students to express their thoughts and concerns, encouraging peer-to-peer learning. Various props and placards were utilized to enhance engagement, offering students a fresh perspective on kindness, gratitude, and positivity. The session also highlighted the impact of positive and negative words on our emotions, underlining the significance of maintaining a grateful and positive mindset.
The second session, tailored for students from classes IX to XII, delved into the theme of "Gender Sensitivity," focusing on dismantling stereotypes and addressing gender inequalities. Dr. Arti Girdhar and Ms. Shammi Proothi explored a range of social dynamics influenced by gender differences. The workshop aimed to raise awareness among the younger generation about transcending these differences, integrating students' personal experiences into various activities and games. This interactive session emphasized the importance of inclusivity, creating safe environments, and fostering support systems.
In conclusion, both sessions provided valuable insights and skills to the students, fostering a culture of effective communication, empathy, and inclusivity. These workshops not only equipped the students with essential life skills but also encouraged them to challenge stereotypes, promote equality, and create a supportive and respectful community.
